Wayne Rooney leading 32Red safe gambling campaign
32Red have included former Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney as the
lead figure in a new responsible gambling campaign.
Rooney, who is joined in the campaign’s main video by boxer Carl Frampton and jockey
Paddy Brennan, is seen asking the audience if they gamble responsibly which is part of
32Red’s Know your Limits’ campaign.
The subject of responsible gambling has been a hot topic in recent weeks, particularly during
the recent lockdown period that has seen gambling numbers rise across the United
Kingdom. That has come despite the fact there is little sporting action to bet on, with many
now turning their attention to higher risk games such as casino games and slots.
Such reports mean the timing of this advertisement is especially appropriate, as gambling
authorities look to get a grip on problem gamblers spiralling out of control in these times of
Rooney did cause some controversy with 32Red when he joined Championship club Derby
County in January, after it was announced that he would wear the number 32 due to the
club’s sponsorship deal with the bookmaker. 32Red is the lead shirt sponsor for Derby
County for the 2019/20 season.
